Kirstie & Erik spent most of their first two and a half years of dating long distance, and as they put it – they have “perfected the art of the FaceTime date.” Even ordering the same dinners to eat 1000+ miles apart! But, two months before Erik moved to Texas to start grad school these two met through mutual friends. Erik happened to live above one of Kirstie’s best friends and Erik & his buddy happened to tag along one night while they grabbed drinks. After a couple weeks Erik happened to see Kirstie out again and asked her for her number – and now the rest is history!
It was so sweet that Kirstie & Erik selected the same location for their session as to where they got engaged for their Chippewa Falls engagement photos. Though they now live in the Twin Cities, they knew it would hold so much meaning to go back to Irvine Park. It’s a place that Kirstie has always loved, especially when she was younger. Erik & Kirstie became a couple in Irvine Park and it’s where Erik surprised her by asking her to spend the rest of her life with him.
This past December 8th, Erik gathered Kirstie & her family under the ruse of meeting at a mid-way point between the Twin Cities and Green Bay where her family now lives for a get-together. While strolling through the Christmas display Erik asked the family to gather for a photo, but in reality, he was getting down on his knee to ask her to marry him. In the gazebo (which you’ll see below) with music playing & the lights shining, he asked her – and she said YES!
